Spinghar Journal of Biomedical Sciences (SJBS)

The Spinghar Journal of Biomedical Sciences (SJBS) is dedicated to ensuring the quality, originality, and integrity of the research it publishes. Peer reviewers play a vital role in maintaining these standards by providing objective, constructive, and timely evaluations of submitted manuscripts.

Plagiarism Detection Policy

All submitted manuscripts are subjected to thorough plagiarism screening prior to peer review using two trusted similarity detection tools:

  • iThenticate
  • Turnitin

The editorial office reviews all similarity reports before forwarding manuscripts for peer evaluation. SJBS follows strict criteria for originality:

  • The overall similarity index must not exceed 20%, and
  • No single source should contribute more than 5%, excluding citations and references.

Although initial screening is done by the editorial team, reviewers are encouraged to remain alert for any potential ethical concerns, including plagiarism, data fabrication, or image manipulation. Any suspicion should be reported confidentially through the review system.

Review Scope and Responsibilities

Reviewers are expected to assess the manuscript based on the following key criteria:

  • Originality and scientific contribution
  • Methodological soundness and data validity
  • Clarity of presentation and structure
  • Relevance to biomedical sciences and journal scope
  • Compliance with ethical standards

A Reviewer Evaluation form is provided alongside each manuscript to guide and standardize the review process. Reviewers should use this form to document their observations, recommendations (accept, revise, or reject), and any confidential comments for the editor.

Confidentiality

All submitted materials and reviewer comments must be treated with strict confidentiality. Manuscripts may not be shared, copied, or used for any other purpose. Reviewers must conduct the evaluation in an unbiased and ethical manner.

Conflicts of Interest

Reviewers must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence their impartiality. If a conflict exists, the reviewer should decline the invitation or notify the editorial office immediately.

Timeliness

Timely reviews are essential for efficient editorial processing. Reviewers are expected to submit their evaluations within 2–3 weeks. If additional time is required, please inform the editorial team in advance.
