The Spinghar Journal of Biomedical Sciences (SJBS) is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered a serious breach of scholarly ethics and will not be tolerated.

  1. Definition of Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the use of another author's words, ideas, data, or work without appropriate acknowledgment. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Direct copying of text without quotation marks and citation.
  • Paraphrasing content without proper attribution.
  • Reusing one’s own previously published work (self-plagiarism) without citation.
  • Using figures, tables, or data without permission or reference.

To ensure originality and integrity of submitted manuscripts, SJBS employs leading plagiarism detection software:

  • iThenticate
  • Turnitin

All manuscripts submitted to SJBS are subject to mandatory plagiarism screening before peer review. The similarity index is carefully evaluated by the editorial team, taking into account properly cited quotations and bibliographic material.

  1. Acceptable Similarity Threshold

SJBS adheres to the following similarity standards:

  • Overall similarity score must not exceed 20%.
  • No single source should contribute more than 5% to the similarity score, excluding references and properly cited content.

Manuscripts exceeding this threshold may be:

  • Rejected outright, or
  • Returned to authors for revision and resubmission with a detailed explanation.
  1. Consequences of Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage (pre- or post-publication), the following actions may be taken:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript.
  • Retraction of the published article (if already published).
  • Notification to the authors' affiliated institution(s).
  • Temporary or permanent ban from future submissions to SJBS.
  1. Author Responsibility

Authors are solely responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscript. Proper citation and acknowledgment of all sources are required. SJBS encourages authors to use plagiarism detection tools prior to submission.
